While working out, have you ever felt pain but decided to continue with your workout? Well here are 6 pains that indicate you to STOP your workout:
1. Wrists
If you have ever heard your wrists pop while you are lifting or working out your biceps you should really stop immediately. This will usually happen when you have rotated your wrist, and that means your wrist was holding onto that weight instead of your arm. If you keep allowing that to happen, you could very well sprain it or tear a tendon in it.
2. Sharp pain
If you feel a sharp pain in the tailbone when you are cycling it could be due to the fact that you have pulled your hamstring. A tailbone pain can be avoided if you cycle standing up or if you use shorts that have padding in them on the seat area. You also need to make sure that your seat is the correct height and make sure that your knees are in position so that you can prevent any sharp pains in the future.
3. Shooting pains
If there are shooting pains anywhere throughout your body, then it’s a very bad idea to ignore them. With these shooting pains, it is a sign of having a problem in your glutes, lower back or your quad area. It can even signify that there is a problem with your kneecaps or spine disc. These are as painful as they sound, and you need to make sure that you give your body time to heal in order to start working out again. You should also resist pressure in the knee area.
4. Neck pain
Have you ever tried to style an outfit while you are wearing an absolutely horrid neck brace? It’s not fun. If you ever start to feel pain in the neck area or the shoulder area then you should stop exercising immediately. Sometimes this pain is caused by looking down which will actually increase the force on the spine, and then it will disappear when you are looking straight. Be cautious of any pain in the neck or spinal region.
5. Pain from dumbbells
The tennis elbow might be much more known, but you can cause some pain simply with dumbbells. This is the most common way to hurt yourself in the elbow area and the spinal area. If the weight drops too low, then your lower back is the area that has to support it, and you can injure your pec this way. It will hurt, which is why you need to make sure you are always lifting the correct weight size.
6. Yoga pain
The one thing that should not hurt is when you are doing yoga. This is when you are stretching and relaxing your body. If you happen to feel pain in any area behind your knee or arms, etc. You should stop immediately. This is the most common way that people injure themselves. Instead of stretching they are actually tearing a muscle.
Many people who enjoy working out and taking care of their bodies have a difficult time resting if they are injured – but, in order to prevent anything worse from happening and in order for the body to heal the individual must rest. Having long-term damage is the worst thing that can happen to a physically fit individual.

Kale is a dark, leafy green vegetable packed with nutrients. Cooking kale does not harm these essential vitamins. In fact, if you have a low-thyroid function, cooking kale will deactivate a goitrogenic compound that can impact your thyroid. Baked kale chips can be a crunchy, healthy snack -- but if you’re watching your caloric intake, don’t add to much oil during the cooking process.
Nutritional Overview
Kale is a cruciferous vegetable, as are broccoli, cabbages, collard, mustard and turnip greens. Kale is an excellent source of vitamins K, A and C and a good source of the minerals manganese, copper, iron and calcium. One cup of kale contains only 36 calories but provides 3 grams of fiber -- 10 percent of the RDA for a 2,000-calorie diet -- and 2 grams of protein. There is no cholesterol and no saturated fat -- just 1 gram of unsaturated fat per cup. Kale is naturally low in sodium and has 30 milligrams per cup.
Baked Kale
Although kale can be steamed, sauteed, boiled or eaten raw, baking kale results in a crunchy snack food that is a healthy alternative to potato chips. Simply separate the leaves from the stems, toss the leaves with a bit of olive oil and bake. Some recipes say bake for 15 to 20 minutes at 375 F; other instructions suggest a lower temperature -- about 175 F -- and a longer baking time. When the edges of the kale are brown but not burnt, the kale chips are ready to eat. Because kale leaves are thicker than some other greens, such as spinach, they hold their shape well when baked.
For people with hypothyroidism, baking kale, rather than eating it raw, will deactivate a chemical compound in the vegetable that can affect thyroid function. Isothiocyanates, found in all cruciferous vegetables, are a goitrogenic chemical. Goitrogens are chemicals that interfere with thyroid hormone production; but only for people who already have impaired thyroid function. People with normal thyroid function will naturally compensate for the goitrogenic activity of kale.
Kale is nutrient-dense, packed with anti-oxidants and according to Dr. Keith Block, medical director at Block Center for Integrative Cancer Treatment, kale could slow the growth of tumors and the progression of certain cancer cells. In a June 2011 article in the ’Chicago Tribune,’ Block advises people to eat several servings of leafy green vegetables every day and notes that kale is an excellent choice. Baked kale is just as full of these beneficial anti-inflammatory properties as raw kale.
